Company History

The revenue operations of Stone Mountain Park are managed by Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation. In 1950, the Herschend family leased Marvel Cave in Branson, Missouri. Ten years later, that property became Silver Dollar City, a small 1880's themed park. Silver Dollar City became a huge success and formed the foundation of Herschend Family Entertainment. Today, the company owns, operates, and manages 26 themed entertainment properties across ten states. Stone Mountain Park was welcomed into this great family of entertainment parks in 1998.

Herschend Family Entertainment manages the following areas in Stone Mountain Park: the entrance gates, entertainment shows, restaurants, gift shops, campground, and the attractions including the Summit Skyride, the Historic Square and Farmyard, Memorial Hall, Sky Hike, 4-D Theatre, Mini Golf, Railroad, Ride The Ducks, Geyser Towers, and the Lasershow Spectacular.

The former CEO and long time board member of Herschend Family Entertainment, Joel Manby, was featured on the first season of the reality show, Undercover Boss. To view the website of Herschend Family Entertainment, click here.
